OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID TRAINING

The Occupational First Aid Training course is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge,practical skills and understanding required to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007

Modules covered during the course include:

  • First Aid TrainingAssessment, Accident Scene Management
  • First aid in the workplace
  • Patient assessment
  • Respiratory emergencies
  • Cardiac first response
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Altered levels of consciousness
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Burns and scalds, chemicals, electric shock

Assessment and Qualification

All participants will be examined on the final day of the programme by an independent assessor to ensure that participants are competent in administering occupational first aid. Successful participants will receive a signed certificate, which is recognised by the Health and Safety Authority and is valid for 2 years. Successful attendees will gain a FETAC credit in Occupational First Aid at Level 5.

Duration and Costs

The course consists of three full days training and costs €365 per participant . Participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing when attending this course due to the practical elements of the programme.
